The head of Barnado's has stated that more new born children should be taken into care to stop them being damaged by remaining within their inadequate family units. I think this is an extremely sensible idea but what concerns me is how long it will take for these babies to be put into permanent adoptive homes. It will be fine if this is done quickly but if the child is pushed around between care homes and various sets of foster parents and then becomes of an age when permanet adoption is unlikely no good purpose would be served by this policy. I have grave concerns that Social Services can do anything quickly.
